PROCESSING METHOD: the slices are dried in a dehydrator under controlled conditions 

Fun fact

  • in the 1960s, during the 19th century, the Granny Smith variety was discovered by Mrs. Maria Ann Smith in Australia and she is credited for spreading its popularity
  • it is thought that there are more than 7,500 known varieties of apples

Usage

COOKERY: 

  • desserts, juices, syrups, jams, vinegar, fruit salads, but also as an addition to salty and sour foods

CATERING/HOSPITALITY: 

  • ingredient and decoration for hot beverages such as tea, mulled/spiked wine, punch 
  • used for cocktails as well and an excellent decoration for ciders
  • complements beautifully with warm spices like cassia vera, Persian rose, allspice and star anise goes well with whiskey, gin, vodka and rum cocktails
