FAMILY: Rosaceae

PLACE OF PRODUCTION: Croatia

APPEARANCE: dull yellow color with brown skin

TASTE: sweet

HEALING POWERS: rich in vitamins C, A, and E, calcium, iron, lowers blood pressure, reduces the risk of stroke, excellent source of energy

PART OF PLANT: fruit

PROCESSING METHOD:  the slices are dried in a dehydrator under controlled conditions 


Fun fact

  • pears belong to the rose family
  • also known as Abbé Fetel, considered to be a "favorite Italian pear" and for years were rarely available outside of Europe



Usage

COOKERY

  • desserts, salads, cheese plates, marmalades, meat dishes, chocolate, honey

CATERING/HOSPITALITY:

  • decoration for hot beverages such as tea and punch, cold beverages such as whiskey, gin, vodka, or rum based cocktails 
  • serves as a snack and decoration along with William's, but also cider
  • compliments nicely with spices like cassia vera, allspice, cloves, Persian rose and star anise

  • dark, dry place at room temperature
