NAME: Caspici fructus acer

FAMILY: Capsicum

ORIGIN: China

APPEARANCE:  dark red color and thin threads

TASTE: moderately hot, if hotness/spiciness is to be exacerbated, the threads should be roasted in a dry pan

HEALING POWERS: rich in vitamins C and A, beta-carotene, improves digestion, anti-inflammatory, promotes weight loss, reduces cholesterol and prevents blood clotting

PART OF PLANT: fruit

PROCESSING METHOD: ripe and cleaned chili peppers are sliced into thin threads and dried


Fun fact

  • chili has a hot taste due to the ingredient capsaicin, which the plant produces in order to defend itself against predators and microbes
  • most of the world's chili production is led by China, and the Town Anjihai, which is also called the hometown of chili, produces 25,000 tons of chili annually
